Lions, We Serve

  A PERSPECTIVE ON LIONS CLUBS

Internationally...

Lions Clubs International (LCI) was founded in Chicago, Illinois, by businessman Melvin Jones, in June 1917.  Since then, Lions have served the world’s population through hard work and commitment to make a difference in the lives of people everywhere.

With 1.4 million members serving in more than 44,800 clubs in 188 countries and geographic areas, LCI is the world’s largest service club organization.   Lions are recognized worldwide for their service to the blind and visually impaired.

The Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) funded by members worldwide provides grants for a variety of needs and causes.

LCI Headquarters is located at 300 W. 22nd Street, Oak Brook, IL 60523-8842, phone 630-571-5466.  The web site address is www.lionsclubs.org.

 In Wisconsin ...

Lions, Lioness and Leos (youth) of Wisconsin number more than 23,000 members in 737 clubs.

The Lions State office is in Stevens Point, WI.  The Wisconsin Lions Foundation is in nearby Rosholt, WI (a 440 acre children’s camp, retreat and conference center, administrative offices).

The Clubs are organized into 10 districts; districts are comprised of Zones, each representing 4-6 clubs.   The District Governors serve as members of the State’s governing Council.  The character of Lion organization is one of openness—any Lion can attend any meeting.

 Lake Wisconsin Lions Club ...

Our club was chartered in 1985.   We meet the first and third Thursday of each month except for July and August, when we meet only the first Thursday of the month.  We meet at Bayview Lodge at 7:00 pm.  Feel free to visit our meetings at any time.

Our motto is “We Serve” and we continually seek other likeminded individuals to join our efforts on behalf of our community.
