Here at Home....
Like other
Lions worldwide, service to the blind and visually impaired is
one of our most significant activities.
We collect and see to the re-use of
discarded eyeglasses. We provide
new glasses for needy people while
respecting their privacy. (We do
the same for hearing aids.) We conduct
screening eye exams with pre-schoolers
to identify vision problems
while they may still be prevented.
We assist in providing seeing eye dogs
for the blind.
We serve youth...
by promoting literacy though donations of childrens
books to both the Lodi and Poynette
public libraries. By sponsoring
collage scholarships for both Lodi and
Poynette high schools. By
making available to local schools the
drug awareness program, D.A.R.E.
And by contributing to maintenance and
attendance at the Wisconsin
Lions Camp (Rosholt Wi.) for
physically or mentally handicapped youths.
We serve the community
and environment in many ways. We have
provided equipment and services to our
local parks. We have contributed
equipment to our fire departments and
emergency medical teams. We
maintain Whalen's grade on Lake
Wisconsin.
Additional projects? A number of
them.
And we support
statewide Lions projects in Wisconsin. Among these are
Lions Camp funding for the UW's
Wisconsin Lions Eye Research
Laboratories, The Eyebank of
Wisconsin, a foreign exchange student
program, the Mission to Mexico, an
annual caravan of equipment,
medicines and food. And much
more.
